Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this new-build lodge serves as a contemporary family retreat to a 17th-century Cotswold cottage. Our clients wanted a sanctuary; a place to work, relax and entertain, with framed views across the surrounding countryside.

Drawing from the area’s agricultural character, the palette features timber cladding and corrugated steel — materials that root the building in local typology. Large elements of glazing and crisp detailing elevate the structure, while natural finishes and soft tones create a serene interior.
This project explores how modern structures can sit confidently within countryside settings. The local vernacular, materials and context inspired a building that marks the next generation of country living.
