TOM RUTT

Director

Tom Rutt is the TR in the studio’s name and set up the practice in 2015 after working as a director for an award-winning practice in London.

His goal is to create timeless projects that make client’s lives better. As well as being involved in the overall strategies for the projects he is obsessed with details, and endlessly wants to refine them. Over the years he has developed a deep understanding of both traditional and modern architecture and interiors, using this to try and create projects that respond to our current era but also with one foot in the future.

Having built the team from the start there is huge focus on enjoying the work and creating a good culture aided by frequent team trips to restaurants, bars and annual foreign excursions.

ALEX RICKETTS

Architectural Assistant II

Alex is the other member of our Antipodean crew – from Adelaide, South Australia.

After graduating with her Master’s degree in 2015, she worked at Williams Burton Leopardi for four years before finding us at TRS.

She’s been involved with residential projects ranging in scale and has experience with interiors. Alex has a soft spot for buildings that tell a story, great lighting, tactile materials, and dogs. She believes functional design coupled with quality detailing is the perfect foundation to create joy in living.

TR Studio is a collective / collaborative / studio-based group of designers, which has grown over the past few years.

Each member is a valuable part of the team and together have a combined wealth of experience and talent.

Even though we have a shared taste in design, we each have our own individuality and flare, which is important to achieve both beautiful and rigorous projects.

Architecture and a love for beautiful design is what brought TR Studio together, but we all have a mutual passion for travel, culture, furniture and food. We have a weekly lunch in the studio, cooked by a resident chef (/team member). Below are some of our favourite dishes.
